Reading Rangers 0
Spencers Wood Youth FC Under 8's 1

Ryan (1)

We started the game strongly and put pressure on Reading Rangers straight from the kick off, with both Ryan and Joshua having a shot on goal. Reading had a few chances, but we managed to hold them off and keep the majority of the possession in their half, showing improvements in our team play. Joe had a quiet first half in goal, but again continued to do well with his goal kicks and looked to pick out players to kick to and create attacking play. Scott & Harry were solid in defence, and came forward to make tackles, hardly missing any. Charlie S once again kept his calm and used his skills to dribble past the opposition whilst Ryan as always showed great team support by getting involved in play all over the pitch. We dominated the first half and Charlie G was unlucky to score after his shot just went wide.

Half-time score: 0 - 0

Half-time substitutions:
Ella replaced Charlie G in attack.
Joe replaced Charlie S in midfield.
Charlie P replaced Harry in defence.
Eddie replaced Scott in defence.
Alex replaced Joe in goal.

Reading Rangers kicked off in the second half, but we picked up where we left off and immediately won back possession of the ball. After seeing that Reading Rangers defence had pushed too far forward, a well struck pass to Ryan, allowed him to dribbled the ball all the way from midfield with Ella and Joshua running with him in support. With only the goalkeeper to beat, Ryan lined up his shot for a well deserved goal. In the middle part of the second half, Reading fought back and forced two good saves from Alex to keep us in the game. Eddie & Charlie P, held their position well and made sure that Reading had no more shots on goal.

This was a great team performance where everyone played their part really well. Great improvements were particularly noted in our passing and looking to move into space whilst our defensive tackles were strong and reliable.

Great support and encouragement from the parents also helped in cheering our team onto this well deserved win.

Full-time score: 1 - 0 (win)
